"This book is another reason why Diane Alber is my new favorite author of children’s books! She carefully weaves the following into her stories- art principles, believing in yourself, character traits, empathy and educational standards.
This book specifically brings in how imagination plays into a child’s learning. The main character also is figuring out how to adapt the skill of being able to color with a crayon to the unicorn’s limited abilities. I cannot wait to read and discuss this book with me Kindergarten students.
And don’t be fooled by the first impression- this book has enough depth to be used by older students!"

Never Let a Unicorn Scribble! Diane Alber Books Reviews
- This book is another reason why Diane Alber is my new favorite author of children’s books!
And don’t be fooled by the first impression- this book has enough depth to be used by older students! - I’ve been a fan of this author since her first book. This one is different from her full series, but every bit as delightful and charming. LOVE the character’s expressions, and that it is told in first person by the little girl. My daughter (age 4) giggled through the entire thing, and I may have too.
- This is a really fun and creative book! The little girl in me is totally the main character. I love the subdued colors and then the scribbles that really stand out. It’s just so pretty. I’m going to order a print one for my niece to add to her everything unicorn collection.
- Never Let a Unicorn Scirbble is formatted to be read in landscape mode (holding your device horizontally) where it takes up the entire screen. Words and pictures display together on the screen like a traditional picture book. A lot of self published authors can't be bothered to format their work and it displays like a mess with bits of text on one page and an image on a small part of the screen on another, so I always like to take the time to point out when authors care about their reader's experience and their own work enough to take the time to format it.
The illustrations are fun, as is the story where the little girl talks to the reader as she decides to disobey the advice never to let a unicorn scribble (she has one as a pet). - What's a girl to do when she has a pet unicorn and she's been told not to let the unicorn scribble?! She loves her unicorn, she loves to color, and anyway, what could possibly happen? Read this whimsical story to find out what happens...😊
- Another fabulous quirky and fun book your child would resonate with if you know what I mean. Kids just cannot resist scribbling with vibrant and colorful crayons, you know they make a mess on the walls right. This little one has a vivid imagination and a very curious mind, she is so cute and she knows what will happen if she scribbles on the wall. An amazing and fun little book that continues to teach kids about using their imaginations and having fun with it.
- Such a great story that both my daughter and son love. They both giggled like crazy when we ready this together. I love the way the unicorn is described and all her antics. The message at the end is perfect as well. This is a fun story for any age and a new favorite in our house
- I bought this for my daughter who loves unicorns. Very cute story with a great message at the end. We've read it several times and are inspired to make our own scribbles when we have the space.
