Saw this at a used bookstore and my first reaction was "What an ugly-looking book!" Then I opened it up and realized what a treasure it is. Love the topical organization and the work that the editors did with this one. Some of the other volumes on the market might be better suited for certain more specific purposes but for clarity and erudition this is a volume that I find no problem with. The text is a little over 1000 pp. if you leave out the index and it covers everything from Ability to Zen (with stuff like Sex and Plumbers in between) and features a lot of friendly big names that you might recognize and many I did not. Mind I'm not using it for speech-writing or to look up the source of a quote, I just find it a pleasure to read. I imagine this is a work I will to return to time and time again and I really can't think of anything bad to say about it. - This is a fine copy of an excellent reference book on quotations.
